After a full restoration by Robin Birch here at Aston Down he prepared for the Grasshopper's first test flight ably assisted by willing members. Originally designed and built as a training glider for the Royal Airforce, launch is achieved through the use of a V-shaped bungee or elastic rope pulled by a team of helpers. Once released the glider is catapulted into the air between the well separated helpers. The glider can also be mounted on a pivoting tripod pointed into wind for the demonstration of controls. A couple of flights were made the, evidence is posted below.
